Bettie Jean Hawkins

Ms. Bettie Jean Hawkins, age 80, of Zebulon, passed away October 5, 2023.  She grew up in Griffin before moving to Pike County, where she lived most of her life.  She was the daughter of the late Deward Belmon Hawkins and Rachel Chadwick Hawkins.  Bettie Jean was a wonderful cook and known for her delicious candy, fudge, and divinity, and for sharing them with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Stephens, daughter, Wanda Hawkins, and brother, Johnny "Mac" Hawkins.

She is survived by her children and their spouses:  Scott and Kiley Stephens and Kellie and Jeffery Killingsworth; grandchildren and their spouses:  Ryan and Jennifer Stephens, Christian and Blake Strickland, and Cody Killingsworth; great-grandchildren: Maxi Stephens, Journey Strickland, Luna Strickland, and Aspen Killingsworth; sister:  Mary Ann Hawkins; sister-in-law: Carolyn Hawkins; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walter L. Ingram Burn Center at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta , in memory of Bettie Jean.
