Mr. Big John Burrell Holcomb, Jr., age 69, of Williamson, passed away April 9, 2022, at Emory Medical Hospital in Atlanta. He grew up in Dawsonville, son of the late John Burrell Holcomb, Sr. and Sara Milsap Holcomb. Throughout the 80's and 90's Big John operated his own custom Harley shop as well as set the bar in the world of Harley drag racing. At times he was an event promoter, bar owner, ordained minister and all around family man who enjoyed traveling, drag racing, hot rods and classic cars. He enjoyed his family and friends and to know Big John was a benefit for all involved.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris "Dee" Yarbrough Holcomb and his brother, Ricky Holcomb.
He is survived by his son: John Burrell Holcomb III and his fiancé Melissa Harris; grandchildren: Hannah Elizabeth Holcomb, Lucas Wayne Dover, John Burrell Holcomb IV, Austin Lee Dover and Brantley Cole Holcomb; sisters and a brother: Dianne and Keith Jarrard, Donna Fay Holcomb, Ray Thomas and Joy Jarrard; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.
A family visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and a visitation with friends will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Dress is casual.
Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery, 8226 Kelly Bridge Road, Dawsonville. The funeral procession will start at Atlanta Motorsports Park, 20 Duck Thurmond Road in Dawsonville. Staging will begin at 1:45 p.m., and KSU at 2:30 p.m.
