Billy Joe Hutcheson

Mr. Billy Joe Hutcheson, age 87, of Covington, passed away April 12, 2022, at Piedmont-Newton Hospital.  Billy grew up in Coffee County, son of the late Homer Hutcheson and Blonnie Taylor Hutcheson. He served in the National Guard for many years. Billy worked for the telephone company for over 30 years before retiring. He was a long-time member of County Line Baptist Church in Covington and more recently Long Street Baptist Church in Cumming, and served as a Deacon at both. While living in Cumming, Billy was an active member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, gardening and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Mary Ann Roper Hutcheson, brothers, Jeff Hutcheson, Windell Hutcheson and Cecil Hutcheson.

He is survived by his daughters: Barbara Callaway of Covington, Carolyn Walsingham of Covington, and Kelly Hansel (Darin) of Farmville, VA;  grandchildren: James Walsingham (Natasha), Cheyenne Walsingham (Cassie), Dillon Hansel and Gavin Hansel (Autumn); great-grandchildren: Kenzie, Micah, and Melody; sisters:  Jo Ann Smith (Gene) of Claxton, and Nadine Radcliff (George) of Blairsville; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 15, at 2:00 p.m., in Douglas City Cemetery, 1622 N. Gaskin Avenue, Douglas, GA.

Friends may visit the family from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., graveside.
