Bobby Blount

Mr. Bobby Howard Blount, age 89, of Meansville, passed away February 19, 2026, at his home. Bobby spent most of his life in Pike County. He began his career in Atlanta working with the sheet metal union, a job he held for 10 years. In 1973, he opened his own business in Zebulon, Blount Sheet Metal, a family-owned company that continues to serve the community today. Bobby not only built a successful business but left a legacy for his family.

He was very involved in the lives of his children. He coached recreation baseball for over 30 years, impacting generations of children. Bobby was committed to public service and elected as Pike County Commission Chairman, an office he held from 2002 to 2004.

When he wasn't working, Bobby enjoyed raising cattle, tending to his garden, traveling, and camping. He and his family took countless trips in their pop-up camper to areas around Georgia and even traveling out west to the Pacific Ocean, Yellowstone National Park, Disney Land and Hoover Dam. He visited every state except North Dakota.

Bobby was a charter member of West Griffin Baptist Church where he also served as Deacon. The Church just celebrated their 60th anniversary. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, a trusted community leader, and an American Patriot who loved his country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Farris Gaines Blount, Myrtle Adele Chappell Blount, brothers and a sister, Melvin Blount, Alvin Blount and Mary Joyce Massengale, and young siblings, William Blount and Betty Laura Blount.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Virginia Blount; five generations of the Blount family--children: David Blount, Teresa Blount, Reggie Blount (Karla) and Mitch Blount.
