Carl A. Howell

Mr. Carl Aubrey Howell, age 87, of Eatonton, passed away June 25, 2022, at his home. He was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, son of the late William "Bill" Dean Howell and Essie Mims Howell.  Carl was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War. He worked for Crompton-Highland Mills in Thomaston and Walton-Monroe Mills in Monroe for many years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Sinclair.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Prince Howell and his step-son, Dennis Shirley.

He is survived by his children: Carla Howell (Lee), Peggy West (Len), Keith Shirley (Renee), Greta Sorrow (Derrick), and Susan Allgood (Kevin); Grandchildren: Blakely, Cody, Jonathan, Cassie, Leslie, Jessica, Megan, Peyton, Presleigh, Brady, Emily, Cheyenne and Katie, several great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, June 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the funeral home.  A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Griffin Memorial Gardens, 515 Dobbins Mill Road, Griffin.
