Cecil Gibson

Mr. Grady Cecil Gibson, age 80, of Lithonia, passed away October 1, 2024, at Piedmont-Newton Hospital in Covington.  Cecil grew up in Atlanta, son of the late James Cecil Gibson and Addie Jewel Roberts Gibson. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War where he received numerous metals including the Bronze Star. Cecil worked as a plumber and enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden, fishing in Carrabelle, Florida and NASCAR. He was a member of Rockland Methodist Church in Lithonia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Steven Bray and everlasting friend, Emma Reagin Hill and her son, Freddy Hill.

He is survived his sister: Peggy Owens (Mike); nephews: Larry Bray (Cheryl) and Jeff Bray; great-nephew: Avery Bray; great-niece: Amanda Martin (Stephen).

He is also survived by Emma's children: Andy Hill, Tony Hill, Nancy Barandon, and Nelda Champagne (Andre); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Cecil's life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 2 p.m., in Neal Baptist Church, 5517 Highway 18, Concord.  Pastor Ken English will officiate.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the church.
