Frances Townsend Reese

Ms. Frances Jewel Townsend Reese, age 78, of Meansville, passed away August 15, 2024, at Columbus Hospice.  Frances was born in Thomaston, daughter of the late Robert Lee Townsend and Lillian Odessa Drake Townsend. She worked for William Carter Co. in Barnesville, Sherri Lynn Manufacturing in Zebulon, Thomaston Mills, 1888 Mills in Griffin and Thomaston, and Goody's in Manchester for a total of 49 years in the textile industry.  Frances was an excellent cook, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, yard work, cutting grass, riding her lawnmower, and traveling with her niece.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Margie Webb and Mary Dorsey, brothers, Robert "Rabbit" Townsend, Bobby Townsend, and Harvey Townsend, special nephew whom she raised, Donnie Lee Dorsey; and special friend, Lee Gross.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Brown of Fayetteville; brother:  Aldine Townsend (Ellen) of Thomaston; special niece:  Tammy Colley (Martin); sister-in-law: Brenda Townsend; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Friends may visit the family Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.   A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 19, at 1 p.m., in the Pine Mountain Nazarene Church Cemetery with Pastor Eric Boomer officiating.
