Gayle Lolette Shirley Herrington

Gayle Lolette Shirley Herrington, age 74, of Thomaston, Georgia, passed away on August 6, 2022. Gayle was born on April 25, 1948, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Lenard and Minnie Chitwood Shirley. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age.

She retired as a Senior Corporate Recruiter with Granite Services International, Inc. Her work included the Southeastern part of the United States and she lived and worked in many states. She was living in Tampa, Florida when she retired. She later moved back to her home state of Georgia. She attended the First Baptist Church in Thomaston, Georgia, and was an active member of The Gleaners Sunday School class. She was very generous in her love and support for her family. She supported churches, and many charitable organizations. She received her education from East Atlanta High School and Georgia State University.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Linda Buckingham.

She is survived by her brother, Leonard Shirley (Margaret). Nieces: Amanda McLaughlin, Renee Ingle, Hannah Smith and Audrey Shirley. Nephews: Joshua Shirley, Jonathan Lynch, Acton Shirley, Cole McLaughlin and Cooper McLaughlin.

Gayle enjoyed playing golf for many years. She liked hunting, fishing, reading and traveling. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Thomaston, Georgia, on Friday, August 12th, 2022, at 3 PM. Friends may visit the family from 2 to 3 pm prior to the service. Rev. Ted Kandler will officiate. In lieu of flowers, you may donate in Gayle's memory to the Gleaners Sunday School Ministry at First Baptist Church, 208 South Church Street, Thomaston, Georgia 30286.
