Jack Fleischman

Mr. John Charles "Jack" Fleischman, age 87, of McDonough, passed away on July 27, 2026, at his home.

Jack was born in Maryland and grew up in Melbourne, Florida. He was the son of the late Joseph P. Fleischman and the late Valerie Baatz Fleischman. In his early career, Jack earned his pilot hours by flying banner planes along the Florida beaches. He also worked in electronics at Cape Canaveral. After moving to Georgia, he joined Eastern Airlines, where he remained until the airline's closure in 1991. He then flew for Air Jamaica for several years before joining AirTran. Even after retiring, Jack continued doing what he loved by flying Gulfstream G-IV for Executive Jets.

Outside of aviation, Jack had a lifelong passion for horses. He owned a farm in Zebulon, Georgia, where he boarded, trained, and showed horses, caring for as many as 48 at one time. Among his most notable horses was Coffee Mate King. In more recent years, Jack devoted his time to raising, showing and breeding Shih Tzu and then showing Chinese Crested Powderpuffs. His beloved companion and favorite dog was Johnny.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Fleischman, brother, Terry Fleischman and sister, Jane Hoffman.

He is survived by his wife: Barbara Fleischman; sons: Ron Fleischman (Monica) and John Wilson; grandchildren: Natalie, Joshua and Ana Fleischman and Evin Massingale and Hailey Wilson; several nieces and nephews.

It was Jack’s wish to be cremated, and a private family service will be held at a later date.
