Janet "Ga Ga" Patricia Smollen

Janet Patricia Smollen, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of Jehovah, passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on May 29, 1948, in Lewiston, Maine, Janet lived a life defined by hard work, deep faith, and unwavering love for others. For many years, she owned and operated her own daycare, caring for countless children in her community. To many families, she was more than a caregiver—she was lovingly known as "Ga-Ga," a trusted and cherished presence in their lives. Through her dedication and kindness, she touched generations and left behind a lasting legacy of compassion and service.

Janet was a devoted servant of Jehovah and remained faithful to Him until the very end, witnessing to her doctors as long as she had a voice. Her faith guided her through life's joys and challenges, providing strength during difficult times and gratitude during moments of blessing.

She was a faithful wife for over 40 years to her husband, Jay. Together, they built a life marked by endurance, commitment, and family. As a mother to Kesha, Frank, Simone, and Jeremy, Janet instilled the values of hard work, responsibility, and faith. Her love extended to her 13 grandchildren and soon-to-be five great-grandchildren, who were among her greatest joys.

Though life was not without hardship, Janet faced challenges with perseverance and strength. She also embraced joy and excitement wherever she could, reminding those around her that life is not only about what we endure, but how we choose to live through it.

She is survived by her husband: Jay; her children: Kesha, Frank, Simone, and Jeremy; her 13 grandchildren: soon-to-be five great-grandchildren: two brothers; Raymond (Linda) Pelchat and Robert Pelchat.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 100 County Line Road, Griffin, Georgia.

Janet's life was anchored in her hope in God's promise of a resurrection. As stated at John 5:28, 29 (New World Translation):

"Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…"

Her family takes comfort in this sure hope and looks forward to the fulfillment of Jehovah's promise.
