Jason Petty

Mr. Jon Jason Petty, age 54, of Zebulon, passed away September 11, 2026, at Emory-Midtown Hospital in Atlanta.

Jason grew up in Zebulon and graduated from Pike County High School. He later moved to Tampa, Florida, where he lived for many years. Jason enjoyed the simple things in life, especially fishing from the Skyway Bridge in Tampa. He was a fan of all things Star Wars and Funko Pop and enjoyed playing Fantasy Football. His favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jason was a skilled welder who specialized in creating custom hitches for classic cars.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas “Johnny” Petty, Sr., his brother, John Thomas “Tommy” Petty, Jr., his grandmother, Lillian Hardy, uncles, Jerry Hardy, Bill Petty and Joe Petty, and cousin, Jeff Petty.

He is survived by his wife: Saundra Petty; children: Skyler Shrewsberry, Joseph Fritsche (Rachel), Kevin Wilson (Alexia), and Kaleb Wilson (Kailey); grandchildren: McKenna, Peighton, Audrey Jean, Benjamin Neal and a baby due in January; mother: Barbara Petty; niece: Amber Davies (Cody); great-nephews and a great-niece: J.B., J.T., and Barbara Jean; aunt: Shirley Wilkerson; cousins: Teresa McNew, Alisha Trott, Sonya Smith, Celeste Jones and Eric Wilkerson; and sisters-in-law: Robin Nelson (Robert) and Erika Lutman (Noah).

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Mr. Wayne Pickett officiating.
