Jay Sandefur

Mr. Walton Jefferson "Jay" Sandefur, age 55, of Barnesville, passed away January 4, 2022.  Jay grew up in Pike County, son of the late Brenda Faye Smith Sandefur and Jared Wesley "J. W." Sandefur. He graduated from Pike County High School. Jay was a custodian for the Pike County School System and then later worked at the Pike County Transfer Station. He enjoyed fishing and listening to music. His favorite band was Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Jay is survived by his brothers and a sister-in-law: Wesley Sandefur of Pike County and Chris and Tiffany Sandefur of Barnesville; 10 nieces and nephews, and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews.

A family graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, January 15, at Vega Community Church Cemetery in Meansville.
