Jeffrey Wade Janney, Jr.

Mr. Jeffrey Wade Janney, Jr., age 36, of Meansville, took his last breath on earth and his first breath in Heaven on February 10, 2026.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his father, Jeffrey Wade Janney, Sr.; grandfather, Ronald Macleod Byrd; grandmother, Jerry Janney; grandfather, William Gardner; great-grandparents, Pauline and Hugh Bishop, Cecil and Fred Walker, Molly Macleod Byrd; and cousin, William Maddox.

Jeffrey spent his early years in Meansville and attended Pike County Schools and Flint River Academy. He later moved with his family to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, where he graduated from Gatlinburg-Pittman High School. While in school, Jeffrey played football and ran track. He was a defensive back and earned the nicknamed "Assassin" because he was fast and was a great tackler.

After high school, Jeffrey attended Gordon College in Barnesville where he earned his associate degree in Art before transferring to Kennesaw State University.

Following graduation, Jeffrey enlisted in the United States Navy. He completed boot camp training at Great Lakes and then went to A school in Pensacola, Florida and served aboard the USS George Washington. Meeting lifelong brothers. During his military service, Jeffrey traveled the world and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan; and was deployed to the Philippines; Hong Kong; Guam; Singapore; Sasebo; South Korea; and San Diego. After three years of service, Jeffrey was honorably discharged.

He remained in California and worked at Green Oak Ranch, a Christ-centered recovery program for men and women. There, he shared his love for the Lord and ministered to others. He was deeply honored to be rebaptized by his mentor and dear friend, Pastor Mike Wloczewski, while there. Jeffrey moved back to Georgia in 2025 and was currently employed with Toyota Industries in North Georgia.

Jeffrey had many passions including the outdoors, snowboarding, shooting guns, reading the Bible, evangelizing to others, trout fishing in the Smokey mountains and could be found everyday of the week in the gym. He found great joy in hiking and cherished snorkeling adventures with his friends, especially at his beloved spot in La Jolla.

As a child, Jeffrey attended Meansville Baptist Church, where he was baptized and active in the RAs.  While living in Tennessee, he attended First Baptist Gatlinburg, and after returning to Georgia, he joined Mt. View Baptist Church in Thomaston. Jeffrey was passionate about witnessing for the Lord. Through Jesus Christ Street Ministry, he led many people to Christ, ministering in New York, San Diego, and South Florida. He found great joy in baptizing others, whether in a lake, a pool, or the ocean. His deepest desire was to make Heaven bigger by leading souls to Christ and boldly witnessing for the Lord. He walked in faith, shared God's love freely, and lived with an eternal purpose. His passion for bringing others closer to Jesus will forever be part of his testimony and legacy.

More than anything, Jeffrey loved his family and treasured every moment that he was able to spend with them. Making memories that will be cherished forever.

He is survived by his parents, Brad and Rachel Byrd Webber; brother, Walker Webber; grandparents Bonnie Byrd Gardner, Harold Janney, and Charles and Joann Webber; uncle, Ron Byrd (April); aunts, Susan Janney Wilson (Chuck), Amy Webber Seiner (Gary), Mandy Lyons; cousins Savannah Beasley (Brandon), McKenzie Byrd, Nikki Manley (Jeremiah), Buddy Wilson (Jade), Matt Wilson (Kaitlyn), and Jonah Lyons; great-aunt June Denise Bishop; great-uncle: Sonny Bishop; Chad Bishop and Joel Bishop; his beloved dog, Ruth; many other loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeffrey never met a stranger, he was a friend to all and beyond family. Jeffrey leaves behind countless friends that he made along the journey of his life. Jeffrey had the unique gift of loving others, finding friendship wherever he was. These friends were an integral part of his life and something that he was grateful for. These friends were such an important part of his life, and he was deeply grateful for each one of them. He held all of his friends dearly in his heart, and they will always have a special place there. I know he would want to give a big shout-out to his military brothers and his California crew (Green Oak Ranch) — he spoke of them often, always sharing wonderful stories and treasured memories. The love, laughter, and bonds they shared meant more to him than words could express.  It was his second home.  His family will treasure all of these memories he shared with us, and we are thankful and blessed for his friends that were on his journey and became his family too.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Dr. Rex King and Pastor Charles Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.
