Mr. Jerry David Wilson, Sr., age 86, of Griffin, passed away December 26, 2021, at his home. He was born in Dothan, AL, son of the late Leo Davis Wilson and Lula Estelle McLendon Edwards. Jerry owned and operated Wilson's Body Shop in Forest Park for many years. After retiring, he moved to Griffin and worked for Cronic Chevrolet and then Spalding Ford as a body shop manager. Jerry enjoyed flying planes and had a pilot's license. He was a ham radio operator and a collector of old radios. He also liked hunting and fishing. More than anything, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry David Wilson, Jr., and his brother and sister-in-law, Danny and June Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Jeanette Wilson; daughter: Tracy Hatcher; grandchildren and their spouses: Brad and Shanna Hatcher, Kayla and Chase McMurray, Andrew Hatcher and Bryson Cash; great-grandchildren: Alexis Hatcher, Braydon Hatcher, Isaiah McMurray, Eric Hatcher and Kayson McMurray; nieces: Dianna Self and husband David, and Darlene Burns; many great-nieces, great-nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, at 2:00 p.m., in Moody Memorial Gardens.
