Jewel Whitfield Fadeley

Ms. Jewel Whitfield Fadeley, age 90, of Griffin, passed away April 23, 2023.

Jewel was born on April 29, 1932, to the late Oscar and Harriet Whitfield. She grew up in rural Cherokee County. She spent the last 15 years of her life in Griffin where she was close to her children and grandchildren.

Jewel had a calm nature and a dry sense of humor. She was a homemaker and mother of five children. She had a talent for sewing and worked as a seamstress for several years. She also sewed quilts and clothes for her children. Jewel enjoyed gardening and canning jelly and other foods. She will be remembered as a loving mother and Memaw.

Along with her parents, Jewel was preceded in death by her son, Jim Fadeley.

She is survived by her children: Benny Fadeley of Griffin, Velda (Jerry) McElwaney of Meansville, Albert Fadeley of Villa Rica, and Walter Fadeley of Sharpsburg; grandchildren: Benny McElwaney, Karen Medana, Kelly Fadeley, Angel Fox, Braxton Fadeley, Tony Fadeley, Michael Fadeley and Jessie Atkins; many great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, April 25 ^th in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family beginning at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Cemetery in Tyrone.
