Joan Owens

Mrs. Brenda Joan Dunn Owens, age 79, of Griffin, passed away May 26, 2024, at Eternal Hope Hospice.  Joan grew up in Griffin, daughter of the late Troy W. Dunn and Mary Beulah Starr Dunn. She was a homemaker who took great care of her family, always put others before herself, and never met a stranger.  She enjoyed shopping, cooking, flower gardening, talking on the phone, and arts and crafts. In the last few years, Joan's favorite past-time was feeding and watching the birds in her yard.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Mike Dunn and Jimmy Dunn, a sister, Eleanor Cobb, and daughter-in-law, Kelly Bunn.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years:  Charles "Chuck" K. Owens; children: Sherry Fouts (David) and Greg Owens; grandchildren: Julie Widmer (David), Katelyn Owens, Luke Owens and Kaden Owens; great-granddaughters: Noelle Widmer and Cleo Ragsdale; sisters and a brother: Betty Williams, Jean Lievsay, Troy Dunn, and Jennie Widegren; many nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating Joan's life will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
