John Thomas Carroll, Sr.

Mr. John Thomas Carroll, Sr., age 92, of Eatonton, passed away November 30, 2024, at his home. Mr. Carroll grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and spent much of his childhood there and in Denver, Colorado. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force where he was a cook. After serving honorably for four years, he was discharged from the military and attended the University of Georgia where he earned his bachelor's degree in business management. He worked for Carling Brewery in Atlanta for several years before moving to Indiana. While there, he worked in manufacturing management. Later in life, Mr. Carroll moved back to Georgia and became a real estate agent and a broker at Century 21 in Jonesboro.

He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, living on the lake and was a real ham at water skiing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Jones Carroll.

He is survived by his children:  John Carroll, Jr., Becky Childree (Jim Webb) and Debbie Fuhr (Chris); grandchildren: Melisa, Cindy, Keith, Tommy, Sean, and Tori; great-grandchildren: Kayla, David, Patricia, Jacklynn, Matthew, Ashley, Drew, Ashton, Kate, Ethan, Mikal and Heaven; great-great-grandchildren: Jace, Emberly, Hudson, and Scarlett; brother: Bill Otte; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 2 p.m., in Woodbury Cemetery.
