Loyd Thomas, Sr.

Mr. Loyd Daily Thomas, Sr., age 95, of Concord, passed away December 9, 2023.  Loyd was born in Norman Park, GA, son of the late Bunyon Daily Thomas and Eula Blaylock Thomas.  In his early years, his love of farming carried him across Georgia with his family, including the Moultrie/Tifton area. During those years, he explored the country as an owner/operator for Home Transportation.  In Dallas, he owned and operated a poultry and cattle farm, ran his own excavating business, and built houses.  After moving to Woodbury and finally Concord, he continued to farm for the remainder of his life.  Known as Mr. Loyd, he drove a school bus for countless children across Pike County until he retired at the age of 81.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Leslie Thomas and Larry Thomas; brothers: Gene, J.B., Roy, Bill, and Charles Thomas; sisters Leila Fisher, Bessie Foster Houston, Dorothy "Dot" Riggs, Lula Hayes, and Ruth Hale.

He is survived by his wife: Cherry Hardman Thomas; children: Loyd Daily Thomas Jr. (Jessica), John Wayne Thomas (Brittany), Matthew Bradfield (Jessica), Lillie Bradfield (Todd Lower), Allen Thomas (Angie), Charlene Majors; grandchildren: Finley Ann Thomas, Harper Reese Thomas, River Bradfield, Forest Bradfield, Jaxon Lower, Ronin Lower, Scott Thomas, Lee Thomas, Leah Hollis, Ellee Gonzales, Tiffany Coffman, Tabitha Lester, Tia Hunt, Tori Collier; brothers: Louie Thomas, Paul Thomas (Mariann), Sam Thomas (Annette), Wayne Thomas (Donna); sister: Eva Chandler; 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery, 631 Madden Road, Concord.

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Shriner's Hospital for Children .
