Mrs. Beulah Lucille Porter Chamlee, age 98, of Griffin, formerly of Meansville, passed away September 4, 2023, at Brightmoor Nursing Center. She was born on January 6, 1925, daughter of the late William McVay Porter and Annie Lou Maye Porter.  In her early years, she worked at a country store near Pine Mountain, at Lockhead as a Riveter during WWII, and later she was a seamstress for Arrow Shirt Company.

Ms. Chamlee enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden, word search puzzles, and playing the piano. She was an excellent baker, and a kind and gracious lady.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years: Eugene A. Chamlee, her son, Lee Alton Maro, and 10 brothers and sisters, Talton, Ralph, Bud, Malcolm, Josie, Flossie, Viola, Jewel, Mattie and Lois.

She is survived by her children: James Maro (Muriel) of Meansville, Terry Maro (Kaye) of Griffin and Sherrill Meeker of Griffin; grandchildren: Robert, Teresa, Elizabeth, Tony and Tina; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Brightmoor Nursing Center and Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Ms. Chamlee.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
