Marie Yancey

Mrs. Margaret Marie Phagan Yancey, age 78, of Concord, passed away February 3, 2022, at Brightmoor Hospice. Marie was one of eight children born to the late Bernis Claude Phagan and Amanda Nell Wynn Phagan. She was a long-time member of Mt. View Baptist Church in Thomaston where she was head of the women's ministry for many years. Marie was a wonderful cook, loved feeding everyone, and made the best chocolate cakes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Clinton and Robert and  her mother-in-law, Ruth Yancey.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Harold Yancey; children and their spouses: Phil and Diane Yancey of Milner, Steve Yancey of Williamson, and Sharman and Todd Brannon of Concord; brothers: Buddy Phagan of FL, Skipper Phagan of NC and Gary Phagan of GA; sisters: Lena Conner of FL, Sue Marques of MS and Vickie McBride of Columbus; grandchildren: Chad, Tiffani, Trae, Tyler, Kel, Ryan and Hunter; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 11 a.m., at Mt. View Baptist Church, 2569 Jeff Davis Road, Thomaston.  Rev. Keith Johnson and Dr. Rex King will officiate.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the church.
