Mary Jo Boswell

Mrs. Mary Jo Turner Boswell, age 88, of Molena, passed away September 14, 2026. She grew up in Thomaston, daughter of the late Lawrence Turner and the late Bonnie Jones Turner. Mary Jo spent most of her life working in the banking industry. She began her career at United Bank and later worked with Regions Bank, First Bank of Griffin, and Center Bank in Atlanta. She eventually joined First Bank of Pike in Zebulon, where she worked for 30 years before retiring.

Mary Jo attended Mt. View Baptist Church in Thomaston for many years and more recently attended Christ Chapel in Zebulon. Mary Jo was an excellent baker and was known for her delicious holiday cakes and all her wonderful family Sunday dinners.

She enjoyed reading and sewing, but her greatest gift was the love and care she so freely gave to others. She generously volunteered her time as a Pink Lady at Upson Regional Medical Center and as an active member of the Pike County Lions Club. She had a caring heart and found joy in helping and looking after the people around her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Calvin Cook, J. Astor Riggins, and James “Jim” Boswell, her daughter, Penny Wilson, son-in-law, Tony Wilson, grandson, Branson King, and brother, Charles Larry Turner.

She is survived by her children: Randy Cook (Regina) and Kathy King (David); grandchildren: Justin Cook (Christy), Whitney Gross (Travis), Austin King (Michelle), Olivia King, Nathan Wilson (Shelby), and Zack Wilson (Shelby); and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Molena City Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in memory of Mary Jo.
