Mr. George Michael "Mike" Hutchinson, age 61, of Barnesville, passed away December 1, 2021.
He was born in Independence, Louisiana, son of the late Holly Bower Hutchinson and Lizzy Hutchinson. For most of his life, Mike was a carpenter and home builder. He started working at the age of 14 and at one point operated his own company building (framing) large custom homes in Eagles Landing, and Lake Dow. Mike always worked for himself. He was extremely talented with woodworking. Even after he retired from framing he would have contractors calling him asking for advice, or inspections. In the last few years, he spent time home remodeling and custom deck building.
He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing and anything on the water. He was a swamp boy. He also enjoyed talking and being around friends. Mike was a talker! He loved to teach his trade and pass on his knowledge. He taught and helped so many get into the trade and succeed. There are many business owners who learned everything from him. Mike impacted the lives of so many, and he loved his family more than anything.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Hutchinson, who passed away earlier this year, and his nephew, Holly Michael Hutchinson who passed away in 2020.
He is survived by his girlfriend: Kathy Swords; daughters: Lexy Hutchinson-Wise and husband Jon of Barnesville, and Elizabeth Hutchinson of Blairsville; son: Matthew (Matt) Jerry Daher of McDonough; former wife: Shawnie Daher; granddaughter: Piper Elizabeth Wise; daughters: Amber O'Brien of Canton, Megan Durham of Barnesville, and Heaven Freeman of Alabama; brother: Louis Edward Hutchinson of Barnesville.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the funeral home. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.
