Mike Whitehead

Mr. Mike Whitehead, age 68, of Thomaston, passed away December 1, 2023, at Upson Regional Medical Center.  Mike was born September 3, 1955, son of the late Leo Whitehead and Sara Tingle Whitehead Ward. Mike worked as a truck driver for J. B. Hunt for 20+ years. He was an active and long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Zebulon where he served as Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School teacher, Sound Technician, Music, Youth and Brotherhood Director, and Property Committee Chairman.  Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football and baseball, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years: Debra Whitehead; children and their spouses: Shanna and Dan Skipper, Melinda and Clayton Moon, Michell Wilson, and William and Mandy Philmon; grandchildren: Sean Bailey, Tyler Bailey, Seth Moon, Greylon Moon, Sara Moon, Taylor Wilson, Ansley McClain, Emily Philmon and Austin Burkett; five great-grandchildren; sisters and a brother-in-law: Sharon and Bud Gleaton, and Gerri Thompson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 4:30 p.m., in Emmanuel Baptist Church, 5015 US 19, Zebulon. Dr. Bud Gleaton will officiate, and burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery in Thomaston.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday, from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m., at the church.
