Mrs. Nettie Jane Sparks Grant, age 87, of Barnesville, passed away at her home on October 7, 2026. Nettie was born in Oroville, California, the daughter of the late W. R. Sparks and the late Elizabeth Cox Sparks.
Nettie and her husband, Lonnie, both worked as government contractors selling automotive parts. Their jobs moved them to many different states, until they eventually settled in Barnesville. More recently, Nettie worked as a driver for NAPA Auto Parts.
Nettie was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene and was currently a member of the Barnesville Church of the Nazarene. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she faithfully served the Lord through her gift of music. Nettie served as a church pianist for an extraordinary 82 years. She never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel welcome wherever she went. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, working in her yard, and, in her younger years, bowling. Her life was a beautiful testimony of faithfulness, love, and service.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Craig Allen Grant, brother, Russell Sparks and sister, Beverly Tittle.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years: Lonnie Grant, Sr.; son: Lonnie Grant, Jr. (Donna); grandchildren: Jessica Pippin (Trae) and Jennifer Malcolm (Patrick); great-grandchildren: Auggie Malcolm, Parker Pippin and Raegan Pippin; sister: Joann Tomlinson (Larry); several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11 a.m., in the Barnesville Church of the Nazarene, 744 Veterans Parkway, Barnesville. Pastor Lonnie Grant, Jr. will officiate.
Nettie will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service to lie-in-state.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville with Pastor Brian Howard officiating.
