Patricia D. Purkey, 63, of Williamson, GA passed away into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday 06/13/2024 at her home.
Patricia drove school buses for Clayton and Gordon counties and the City of Calhoun, transporting unknown numbers of children, over many years and many miles safely with never an incident or loss.
Due to her stellar record, she was chosen to drive a bus carrying the sitting Governor of Georgia and other state and local dignitaries investigating an accident involving a county school bus at a railroad crossing.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 44 years Michael Purkey Sr. of Williamson, their 3 children, Michael Purkey Jr. and Sean Purkey of Calhoun, GA, Candace Purkey-Mezick and husband Chaz Mezick of Denison, IA, along with 13 grandchildren, brothers James, Danny and Wayne Gipson, church family and friends.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents James and Barbara Gipson of Newnan, GA, brother Eddie Gipson and grandson Wyatt Mezick.
She was a faithful, devoted, loving wife, mother and Nanna to her family. Her interests were cooking, baking and occasionally fishing. Though not known by many, she also was a 15th Level Grand Master on Xbox Call of Duty as DixieGirl327.
She is now in that eternal moment, face to face with her Lord. Godspeed our beloved.
