Mr. Phillip Anthony Johnson, age 84, of Meansville, passed away July 18, 2025, at his home. Phillip grew up in Broxton, Georgia, son of the late Toby Johnson and the late Laura Smith Johnson. After graduating from high school, Phillip enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for four years. He was honorably discharged from the military and took a job with Delta Airlines. He worked there as a buyer for 32 years before retiring. Phillip loved retirement and living at his own pace. He enjoyed being at home on his property, sitting on his back porch, drinking a beer while talking politics and telling jokes with his family, friends, and neighbors. He enjoyed riding his tractor, his dirt bike, and fixing things about the house. Phillip was an animal lover! Any and all creatures, he literally would not hurt a fly.
Phillip was very devoted to his family; he absolutely adored his wife Helen. He was a helpless romantic when it came to her. He was a beloved father, step father, and Papa to many.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Jo Johnson, brother, Paul Johnson and step-son, Jeff Smith.
He is survived by his wife: Helen Garner Johnson; children: Paul Johnson, Leigh-Jay Palmer (Donnie), Anita Simpson, Tina Meeks (Johnny) and Tonya Milton (Mike); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service has been planned for Phillip. The family asks in lieu of flowers; please donate to your local animal shelter.
