R. L. (Rufus) Marshall

Mr. R. L. (Rufus) Marshall was born July 27, 1942, in Pike County to Rufus (Doc) and Julia B. Rabon Marshall.  He is preceded in death by both parents.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kay Crumbley Marshall; son, Drew (Martha), of Swansboro, NC; daughter, Melissa (Tony) Ozimek of Fort Walton Beach, FL; sister, Kay (Bobby) Peacock of Swainsboro; step-son, Brad Henn of Atlanta; grandchildren, Kayla Connor, Debbi Marshall, Tricia and John Michael Marshall, Trevor Henn, Conner Henn; great-grandchild, Harper Henn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

R. L. attended Lanier Jr. High in Macon and graduated from Yatesville High School.  He attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Gordon Military School.

He was employed with Southern Bell, BellSouth and retired from AT&T after 45 years.  He proudly served his country in the United State Marine Corp and USMC Reserves as a Sergeant (E5). He was a member of Calvary Lighthouse Church in Thomaston.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Sgt. Major Van Johnson (USMC retired), Reverend Scott Kays and Reverend Mark Mercer officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rock Springs Church Cemetery in Milner.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
