Reba Awtrey

Mrs. Miriam Reba Weldon Awtrey, age 94, of Griffin, passed away September 8, 2023, at Eternal Hope Hospice.  She was born on December 14, 1928, daughter of the late William Benjamin Weldon and Ida Idelia Weldon. Mrs. Awtrey graduated from Milner High School, where she played basketball. She worked at AmSafe, Dundee Mills and Springs Industries for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Earl Awtrey, her son-in-law, Billy Rogers, brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Barbara Weldon, Ronnie and Sylvia Weldon, and Betty Ann Weldon.

She is survived by her daughter: Tamara Rogers of Griffin; granddaughter: Christie Cotton; great-granddaughter: Savannah Collins; brothers and a sister-in-law: Clinton Weldon and Travis and Jeanne Weldon; many nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at 3:30 p.m., at Friendship Baptist Church, 161 Friendship Church Road, Milner.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.
