Samuel Douglas Gill Sr.

Mr. Samuel Douglas Gill, Sr., age 77, of The Rock, passed away May 1, 2025, at his residence.

Mr. Gill was born on May 12, 1947, son of the late George Gill and Irene Cook Gill. He grew up in The Rock and attended Mt. Gap Church most of his life. He worked many years at Dundee Mills and later drove a truck hauling boats. Sam enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Gaynell and Carolyn; sisters, Sue, Edna, and Margie; brothers, Tom, Allen, Buddy, and J.C.

Survivors include his sons, Sam, Jr. (Kathleen), and Bryn; step-children, Deborah, Diane (AJ), Donna (Roy) and David; grandsons, Gavyn (Skye), and Trint; great grandchildren, Lincoln and Samantha; sisters, Betty Ruth, Marvel, and Martha (Lamar).

It was Mr. Sam's wishes to be cremated.

Friends and family may join in a time of visitation that will be held on Saturday May 31st, at 11:00am in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.
