Ms. Shirley Dean Gray Cotter, age 82, of Concord, passed away August 15, 2025. Shirley grew up in East Point, daughter of the late Lester Gray and Marion Cody Gray. She was a graduate of Campbell High School in Fairburn. Over the years, Shirley held many occupations, including a successful career in real estate where she was honored as Agent of the Year, and she also worked in property development.
Shirley was a kind, compassionate, and soft-spoken Christian lady. She was known for opening her heart and home to those in need, often helping them get back on their feet and find work. She lovingly raised her own children, as well as many others. Above all, Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother who dearly loved her family.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary and Faye.
She is survived by her children: Alan Parker, Terri Dean Parker-Bailey (David), Tammy Rogers, Wade Johnson, Rae Brook Vanderbush, Josh Cotter (Kimberly), and Kathryn Elizabeth Cotter (granddaughter); grandchildren: Levi, Ashley, Danielle, Alix, Beau, Jessi, Ashton, Dahlia, Brianna, Haley, Bella, Owen and Liam; great-grandchildren: River, Emory, Sawyer, Charleigh, Sylas, Christopher, June, David, Eastyn, and Stetson Dean who is due any day; special nieces: Lynn and Teresa; many other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on her birthday, October 18, 2025, at Starrs Mill in Fayetteville. A time will be determined later.
