Sonny Linebarger, Sr.

Mr. Johnny Edward "Sonny" Linebarger, Sr., age 72, of Zebulon, passed away October 23, 2024, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Sonny grew up on Island #26 in the Mississippi River.  After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corp, where he served as part of the Military Police and was also a radio operator.  After four years of service, Sonny was honorably discharged from the military. Sonny worked in the HVAC and commercial appliance repair business.  He was a kind-hearted man who dearly loved his family.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying drones and model airplanes.  He was a member of Open Arms Church in Zebulon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fowler Linebarger and Johnnie Blalock Linebarger.

He is survived by his wife: Becky Collum-Linebarger; children: Johnny E. "Sonny" Linebarger, Jr. (Angela), James Collum (Jasmine), and Mason Collum (Megan); grandchildren: Emma Linebarger, Katelyn Linebarger, and Michael Collum; two of his dearest friends: Terry Ison, Sean Farlow and Ralph Cannon.

A celebration of Sonny's life will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 11 a.m., in the Open Arms Church, 487 E. Milner Road, Zebulon. Rev. Terry Ison will officiate. A meal will follow in the church fellowship hall.
