Thomas Conine

Mr. Thomas Conine, known to most as Tommy or Tom, passed away August 03, 2023, at Spalding Regional Medical Center. Born July 4, 1930, in Ellenwood, GA, Tom was raised on a dairy farm which became Ft. Gillam located in Forest Park, GA.

Tom married Barbara Goolsby on October 30, 1953.  He and Barbara enjoyed traveling to foreign counties.  One of the most historical was Egypt where they toured pyramids and rode on camels.

Tom was a proud father to Marcia Conine Autterson (Ted), Philip Conine (Dee), and Steven Conine (Pam).  He was even prouder to be PawPaw to Russell Conine, Amy Long, Alisa Bunch, Andrew Conine and Austin Conine, and great-grandchildren, Margaret Long, Jackson Long, Pierce Bunch, and Leighton Bunch.

Tommy and Barbara lived in Forest Park, GA, for 30 years and in Buckhead, GA, on Lake Oconee for 38 years.  They moved to Griffin a year ago to be near their children.

Tom retired from AT&T where he worked in East Point and the Atlanta Airport.  He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the United States Army. He spent many years working with Boy Scouts at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church and was an Elder at the church.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Barnesville Presbyterian Church starting at 1:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barnesville Presbyterian Church, 404 Thomaston Street, Barnesville, GA 30204, in memory of Tom.
