After an extended illness John Walter Hendrix, Sr. passed away during the late afternoon Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the age of 52. He was born September 2, 1969 in Warm Springs, Georgia.
Walt graduated from Taylor County High School in Butler, Georgia and Flint River Technical College in Thomaston, Georgia with a degree in Graphic Arts. For a period of time he was an instructor in the Graphic Arts Program at the school. Walt worked with his parents at Benns Printing Company for over 30 years. At the time of his illness he had assumed the duties of company manager.
In early years Walt attended The Butler United Methodist Church. In later years he and his family joined the Perry First Baptist Church and was baptized in that faith.
Walt leaves to mourn two children, Katherine Deane Hendrix, John Walter Hendrix Jr., and the mother of his children Morgan Stafford Warren of Perry, Georgia. Other relatives are his mother Margie Wainwright Benns, father Charles Edward Benns, III, brother Charles Ryan Benns, sister-in-law Jennifer Popwell Benns and nephew Charles Edward Benns, IV all of Butler, Georgia. Others include his grandmother Margaret Robinson Wainwright of Butler, Georgia and many other loved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his other grandparents, Walter Wesley Wainwright, Charles E. Benns, Jr. and Juanita Braddy Benns.
A memorial service was held Friday, June 3 at 3:00 p.m. at The Butler United Methodist Church, Butler, Georgia with visitation before the service at 2:00 p.m. Officiated by Reverend Brian Litch.
