Wanda Huckaby

Wanda Kaye Hewitt Huckaby, age 56, of Thomaston, passed away May 12, 2024, at her home.  Wanda grew up in Thomaston, Americus, and Meriwether County. She eventually made her home in Thomaston. She was a sweet person but could be a little stubborn and hardheaded at times. Wanda was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, collecting trinkets, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Huckaby, her fiancé, James Bryan, her mother, Kathryn Hewitt, dad, Randy Burkett and step-dad, Jimmy Griffin.

She is survived by her children: Brandi Huckaby, James Huckaby (Kasey), Tracy Phillips (Brandon), Brenda Dukes (John), and Christopher Bryan (Shelley); grandchildren: Jeb Blackburn, Rylah Crawford, Thomas James "T. J." Huckaby, Bella Pollard, Kaylee Harrison, Hayden Harrison, Christina Culverhouse and Blake Bryan; brother: Tommy "Skip" Pate (Sherry); nephews: Jesse, Dusty, Michael, and Matthew Pate.

Her family is planning a Celebration of Life service at a later date.
